About Village Enterprise

Catalyzing Sustainable Impact

We have an audacious goal of ending extreme poverty for 20 million people in rural Africa by 2030. Our catalytic campaign to raise $25 million will help transform over 3 million lives in the next three years and put Village Enterprise on a path of exponential growth.

Our Fiscal Year 2023 financial audit is currently being finalized. Thank you for your patience — the audited financials will be added to the report as soon as they are ready.

Our Team

World-class and locally-led, we hire our field staff directly from the communities and villages we serve. As our impact and reach have grown in rural Africa, so has our team—we now have 453 team members, 97% of whom are African.

Our team is the heart of our organization.

Guided by our North Star value of ubuntu, our team is passionate about ending extreme poverty in rural Africa. As our organization has tripled in size in recent years, we’ve retained our culture by putting our five core values—ubuntu, passion, integrity, innovation, and sustainability—at the forefront of all that we do.

As our organization has grown, we’ve further invested in our best-in-class poverty graduation model by hiring Eva Kigo, our first-ever Senior Director of Product and Services. Eva leads the innovation strategy for our model, spearheading design and implementation of transformative products. As technology and digital solutions continue to play an ever-more important role in our organization and model, Meshack Mbinda was promoted to Senior Director of Technology Solutions. And at the end of the fiscal year, our Director of Partnerships, Leah Okero, was promoted to Kenya Country Director.

Why ending extreme poverty matters to us.

Listen to our team members explain why ending extreme poverty is so important to them.

Our Board

In May of 2023, we added four new dynamic African leaders to our Board of Directors—Ermias Eshetu, Michael Mithika, Evelyn Namara, and Alexis Rwabizambuga. All four members, along with Serah Kimani, who joined our board in 2022, are from Africa and live in our countries of operation. We are thrilled to have their industry expertise and insight into our work in Africa to guide Village Enterprise in our next phase of growth.
